African Violet in Lavender Flower Bowl
This is such a beautiful bowl or "pot" if you will, and I found this vibrant African Violet and knew it was its match! I love the hues together.
African violets thrive with bright, indirect light, well-draining soil, and consistent moisture, but not waterlogged. They prefer temperatures between 65-75°F (18-24°C) and 40-60% humidity. Bottom watering is recommended, and a balanced fertilizer can encourage blooming. I usually water them from the bottom, once a week for about 15 minutes- and avoid touching the leaves as it can damage the plant. The leaves have a fuzzy texture that can be easily disrupted, and touching can leave oils and dirt, hindering photosynthesis.
*IMPORTANT*
African Violets love moisture, hence their own category of self watering planters. If you opt for one of those, remember that you don’t want the soil/medium itself to be constantly touching water. You want the water to diffuse through an unglazed container, so it’s constantly moist but never soggy. Pot it in a peat or coir based mix so that the soil will retain water, but not too much. Never let them dry out completely. And never water from the top! Crown rot and leaf damage can easily happen.
